Size-Inclusive and HAES® Fundamentals Training

HAES® Curriculum

A peer-reviewed curriculum designed for teaching health professionals and university students about the Health At Every Size® model. Developed by The Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance (NAAFA), and the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB). Available at https://haescurriculum.com/

Introduction to the Non-Diet Approach

The Non-Diet Approach is the clinical application of the Health at Every Size® framework.  This introductory course will show you the key areas important when using a weight neutral perspective in your practice.  This course suits students of nutrition and dietetics as well as nutritionists and dietitians who are new to the Health at Every Size concept. Available at https://www.openlearning.com/healthnotdiets/courses/introduction-to-the-non-diet-approach/

The Non-Diet Approach for Dietitians

This course is designed to teach you about the Non-Diet Approach and weight neutral dietetic practice.  By the completion of the course and assessment items you will have demonstrated a nuanced understanding  of how to apply the Non-Diet Approach principles with individuals.  It covers a lot of ground, from the evidence against weight centric approaches, to the evidence for weight neutral approaches, from the philosophical underpinnings of Health at Every Size® to the application of practice principles using the Nutrition Care Process. Unpacking weight science

The research about human body weight is mountainous.  Most people accept unquestioningly that weight and health are closely linked.  The assumption that increased weight causes poor health outcomes is widespread in medical and cultural discourse but the reality is much more interesting. This course will help you to learn how to 'unpack' weight related research, be it weight loss intervention research, 'obesity' research, or population-wide epidemiological studies, in order to interpret and discuss findings for their actual value, while weeding out weight biased rhetoric. Also covered is an overview of weight neutral interventions which incorporate health promoting behaviours, enhanced body image and self acceptance. Body Positive Counselling: The Non-Diet Approach (workshop)

This practical workshop is perfect for psychologists, counsellors, social workers, General Practitioners, nurses, nutritional therapists, fitness professionals and health coaches who work with individuals in private practice and other health-related settings. This workshop is presented by Louise Adams, Clinical Psychologist from the UNTRAPPED program and All Fired Up podcast, and Fiona Willer, Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian from Unpacking Weight Science and Health Not Diets. Available at https://healthnotdiets.com/for-health-professionals

The Non-Diet Approach for Dietitians (workshop)

Due to the success of the two day series over the last few years, Heath, Not Diets offers two types of non-diet approach workshops designed especially for dietitians. The first is a two day workshop for dietitians who have not previously attended non-diet approach training, or who may like some revision and an update on research. The Day 2 workshop is suitable for those who are looking to extend and consolidate their skills. The workshops are on consecutive days so that you can choose to come to both day 1 and 2, or just day 2. Both workshops are presented by Fiona Willer, AdvAPD and Fiona Sutherland, APD, SDA. Available at https://healthnotdiets.com/for-dietitians

Introduction to Health At Every Size® & Non Diet Approaches

This course, designed by newly graduated Dietitian Sarah Boykett in collaboration with Fiona Sutherland (The Mindful Dietitian) with solid, foundational learning in mind. You'll see places where you're invited to pull out your pen and paper for some reflection, or notes, and other sections where you can sit back and just listen to the audios, or listen to the videos. Available at https://themindfuldietitian.teachable.com/p/health-at-every-size-non-diet-approac
