Alannah Miller, Accredited Exercise Scientist (ESSA), Pilates Teacher, and Founder of Rosy Movement, Collingwood, Melbourne. Alannah is a Health at Every Size® movement provider who designs programs that prioritise strength, mobility, and body confidence over appearance or weight. She offers private and semi-private classes (maximum four participants) that integrate pain- and rehabilitation-informed movement, as well as specialised support for pregnancy, postnatal recovery, perimenopause, and postmenopause. All sessions are delivered in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their movement journey.
Why does size inclusive care matter to you, and what can someone expect when working with you?
Size-inclusive care matters because all bodies deserve to move, feel strong and capable, and experience movement without shame or judgement. Too often, mainstream fitness spaces focus on weight-loss and appearance, which can be discouraging, exclusionary, and harmful. I’m committed to creating a space where clients of every size and ability are seen, respected, and supported to build strength, mobility, and body trust on their own terms. When you work with me, you’ll find a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where your goals and lived experience are central. Sessions focus on movement that is nourishing—not punishing—tailored to your body and needs, and designed to build strength, mobility, and confidence. I guide clients with evidence-informed exercise, collaborative goal-setting, and compassionate movement coaching, helping you feel capable, empowered, and celebrated throughout your movement journey.
What considerations do you make to ensure your practice is inclusive?
I design my sessions to meet clients where they are, respecting the diversity of bodies, abilities, and life experiences. I recognise that traditional Pilates methods and apparatus weren’t created with larger bodies in mind, and that needing adjustments or adaptations is a reflection of the system—not the individual. I use trauma-informed, size-inclusive approaches to ensure clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore movement without shame or judgement. There is no single “correct” alignment for every body, so I tailor cues, load, and positioning to each person’s anatomy and comfort, allowing space to move, experiment, and learn. Language and communication are key—I aim to prevent unintentional harm by using supportive, body-neutral language and addressing bias when it arises. Props and equipment are adapted as tools for connection, feedback, and support, helping clients make informed choices for their bodies both physically and emotionally. This approach ensures every client can engage in movement confidently, safely, and with agency over their experience.
