Fat Positive Practice with Nic McDermid

Nic McDermid is a fierce activist, advocate and content creator, who focusses much of her work on fat positivity, fat visibility and fat justice. She is a thought leader in the eating disorder recovery, body image, weight stigma and anti-fat bias realm, and has developed a practice framework to support people in fat bodies.

Nic’s Fat Positive Practice framework draws on social justice, trauma informed and weight inclusive approaches to support clinicians to incorporate fat positivity into their practice. The framework is informed and guided by lived experience and provides a transformational approach to supporting people who occupy multiple marginalised identities.

We are incredibly lucky to have Nic offer this training for us. This isn’t a “death by powerpoint” training - it’s an interactive, insightful and thought provoking opportunity to come together as a like-minded community and reflect on and improve our practice - both collectively and individually. This training provides an excellent opportunity to understand our own anti-fat bias and develop real world applications to support people in bigger bodies.
